Special Events

Myrtle Beach Rotary - Broadway Concert - Saturday, February 19, 2022
Long Bay Symphony - Saturday, April 24, 2022
"Children of Our Time" - Sunday, April 10, 2022

"Children of Our Time" will be one of the most epic musical productions in our 38-year history. The CMC will join forces at Wheelwright Auditorium on the CCU campus with the Coastal Carolina University Concert Choir and voice faculty soloists, the Long Bay Symphony, the Concert Choir from Winston-Salem State University (Dr. D’Walla Simmons-Burke, conductor), and 2019 GRAMMY Music Educator of the Year, Dr. Jeffrey Murdock of the University of Arkansas, guest conductor.

Focused on the years 1939-1941, the finale program with feature the two student choirs singing a world premiere of a new choral arrangement of the song made famous by Billie Holiday, Strange Fruit, led by Dr. Simmons-Burke, followed by the powerful And They Lynched Him on a Tree, by William Grant Still, conducted by Dr. Murdock. The Carolina Master Chorale and the CCU Concert Choir will then share the stage to perform Sir Michael Tippett’s landmark oratorio, A Child of Our Time, inspired by events surrounding 1938’s Krystallnacht (Night of Shattered Glass). We promise you a breathtaking night with passionate performances of powerful, dramatic, glorious music.
